Call for papers

For the past three years, Labos 1point5 has been collecting data and developing methods and research to estimate, understand and take action on the environmental impacts of research activities within the French academic research community. This emerging field of research is helping to define the trajectories of an ecological transformation for higher education and research (HER). They also play a crucial role in structuring debates within this community, which have intensified and become more widespread since 2018.

The GDR Labos 1point5 conference will take place in Paris on November 6 and 7, 2024. On the one hand, it will set out the state of knowledge in all the disciplines concerned. On the other hand, it will explore questions that foreshadow new research likely to shed light on the challenges of measuring and reducing the footprint of research, as well as the transformation of scientific activities.

We welcome any work on the greening of research activities. This includes studies on quantifying the environmental footprint of HER, analyzing reduction strategies, questioning current or future research practices, and public policy analysis. The conference, like its subject, is intended to be multidisciplinary. Works from all fields are welcome (science and technology, human and social sciences, health and environment), and cross-disciplinary approaches will be particularly appreciated. It is also open to experiences in other sectors that could shed light on the research case. Scientific works will be given priority, but we are also looking to identify more operational works describing the tools for greening research.

Please note: this call for papers concerns November 6 and 7, 2024 only (the day of November 5 will be dedicated to the Labos 1point5 collective).
